Jonas Barandard is a product & innovation designer, currently based between Nantes & Paris. He grew up in Auroville, a universal city in South India, where his father passed on his passion and philosophy of design.
Shaped by this cross-cultural upbringing, his work sits at the intersection of social responsibility, craftsmanship, and forward-thinking innovation. He now continuously works towards a better and more human future of tomorrow, designing with intention and care for the people and systems his work touches.
Toolkit
Approach
Research-driven
Every project begins with understanding — field investigations, user interviews, and documentary research to ground design decisions in real needs rather than assumptions.
Make to think
Prototyping is not a validation step — it is a thinking tool. From rough cardboard models to 3D-printed functional parts, building accelerates understanding and opens new directions.
Systemic responsibility
Design decisions carry social and ecological weight. I aim for transparency, user autonomy, and long-term sustainability, questioning existing systems rather than optimising within them.
